Perhaps it’s Boston fatigue. Or maybe just America’s love of the underdog. But the fact that 9 out of the 17 ESPN experts picked the Mavericks to topple the Celtics in this year’s NBA Finals was, at least from this perspective, fairly surprising. That is no slight to Luka Doncic or Kyrie Irving, both extremely special players who have been incredible this postseason run. This Celtics team is just too good… like, historically good.
